Written Prayer

Our Pastor at FIMC, Hal Daigre was very challenged by a message that his son Marshall Daigre presented to all of us Saturday morning at the Prayer Conference in Mississippi. In that message he defined prayer, spoke of ways to pray, etc.. then at the end he challenged us to write a prayer. So we all took ten minutes and we wrote down our prayers. It was not as easy as I thought it might be. He then challenged us to even write a prayer a day. Then Sunday evening Hal passed out paper and pencils to the whole church and asked us all to write down a prayer. It was challenging for sure. So, anyway…. I thought maybe I would just write a prayer this morning and see where the Spirit leads me.

 Father I want to thank you for this time to come to you in prayer Lord. What a priviledge it is to be able to speak to you personally like now, Lord. It is an amazing thing to think that the creator of the universe is available to hear my cries for help, my shouts of joy and even when I just feel like hangin’ out for a while, You are available. I can only imagine telling the President of the United States I’d like to hang out for a while today?!

I can only imagine the “Govenator” or even my mayor having time to just chat about what’s going on in my life, Father….unless it was an emergency….. or they had liability in the situation…. but you Lord are different.  You created everything that I see… all that I hear and smell…. there is nothing that this body can sense that is not created by you.

You created time, you are above time… you are amazing Lord God…. amazing… what words could ever really describe how great you are Lord? I don’t know of any that could meet the task. Not one by its self Lord God…. not a thousand together, not even a million words…. I am sure that even then we would be unable to describe your Glory fully. It is in awe and with humility that I lay my life at your feet.

I know that I fail you often Lord but please bless me so that I may serve you better Lord. Please help me to help others come to know you or to draw closer to you, maybe even mend a damaged relationship with that doubter Lord God or the one who blames you wrongly. Help me to know your ways Father… help my unbelief Lord, chase away any doubts or fears that the enemy has sown and free me to soar on the wings of eagles! I love you Lord and I lift my voice to worship you! Your are amazing my King!

Please bless my children and my family members Lord God. Heal their bodies, cleanse their hearts, and keep them focused on your light Lord. The light of your salvation given to us as a gift… a free gift! Your Son Jesus Christ became our sacrifice. His blood has set us all free. His blood has been sprinkled seven times on the alter to atone for our sin. Praise Your name Father God for Your love and Your church family at FIMC… they mean so much to me. Please bless and prosper every member of my church Father. Shine your light in their life and be a beacon to their souls Lord God!

How wonderful to be loved by You Lord! How wonderful to know… to really know and to feel how much you love us all. It’s so amazing to try to get my little mind around the thing that you did for me and everyone else in history… sending your own Son, your self, to die for us! How amazing the thought… how mind boggling the depths of Your love really are! You truly are above us in thoughts and ways Lord God… and I thank you for that because without you we would have no hope! No future! I Praise Your name and thank You again for all You have done, all You are doing, and all that You have planned for the future!!

And it is in the name of Jesus Christ that I pray all these things…Amen!

Faith is a hard thing to hold on to!

Faith… it’s a hard thing to hold onto somedays. Somedays it’s hard enough just to hold on to your sanity. The noise of this chaotic world engulfs us and tries to drown out the Holy Spirit. How easy it is to become overwhelmed, distracted, or misdirected because of all the chaotic things happening in our lives. Amen?

Bills are due, overdue maybe. Truck payments are late. The IRS says you owe them instead of them owing you! Grandbabies are sick and in the hospital. Grown children doing things that are not good for them or their own children. Younger children suffering because of the mistakes of your ex! You get the FLU everybody else has been passing around but instead of passing it around you decide to be selfish and hang on to it for about two weeks!! So now you only get twenty something hours on your check and then the boss acts like a jerk because you’re sick. Your brother picks a fight with you over money,…blah… blah… blah!

The really sad part is when things start going so wrong that you start to forget some of the things that went wrong. Big things. Not just the little things but some really big ones. Things get jumbled up and tossed around in your head when that tornado called life rolls through your day! Things are going great all day and out of nowhere…KABOOOOOM!!!! Your whole world is shattered by some terrible thing that happens to you or to someone you care about. Or maybe your day went bad from the start!? The minute you woke up… late…. your day was off to a bad start! Especially if you despise being late! Just imagine that, a test or trial by being late sent to a person who despises being late. What a coinkadink (co-ink-a-dink)!? So then next the devil begins to pile as many more things on us as he can possibly get a hold of! And for people who have lots of hangups or things that they are picky about or things that stress them out, etc, etc,… those people have it bad!

If traffic on the way to work is bad on a daily basis then you can bet your life that it will be the worst you have EVER seen when you’re late for work! Amen?  When you’re sick as a dog and you struggle just to get up and go into work and the only reason you’re there is because there is an important task to be taken care of and you don’t want to let the boss or your coworkers down…. doesn’t it just figure that on that very day your boss will only see that you left sick after half a day and didn’t even notice you accomplished what needed to be done!  How magnificently mystifying life can be!  You never know what to expect from one moment to the next. Nothing stays the same. The only thing that stays the same is that everything changes! That’s a line from a country song I think! And actually now that I wrote that I see how wrong that statement is and I will tell you why….

The Only thing that stays the same and NEVER changes is God! He is The Great I AM now, then, and forever! His love is unending, unchallenged, and unrelenting! His pursuit of us all is beyond the most romantic stories ever conjured up! There are no legends that rival His fame. His name is known for its glory among men. Great men, those considered great by the world, have bowed at the feet of our King and Saviour Jesus Christ! And those who would not bow to Him while they were alive here on earth…. they will find themselves on their faces When He returns in all His glory.

It doesn’t matter what the problem is…. there is no obstacle too big for The LORD to break it down! Praise God! No matter what is laid in your path keep your eyes on the prize! The Glory of eternal life with the Father is the prize! And Jesus is the gate that will either open and reveal the Father to us or the gate that will slam shut in our faces and deny us entry because we are unknown.

Faith is not a gift. One person is not given more than another. Romans 12:3 says we each have a measure of faith. Faith is not a talent. Like some special talent that God gave someone to paint or dance or sing. Faith is not some preimposed thing. God gave us free will. Faith has to be a choice. A decision that we make in our own hearts, minds and souls. Faith is a learned response! It is an active thought pattern that governs how we react in any given situation. Faith is the strength that we can not muster alone. Faith is the joy that we lost in the darkness of those valleys.  Valley is defined by www.dictionary.com as any place, period, or situation that is filled with fear, gloom, foreboding, or the like: the valley of despair. Faith is the Hope that no one else can see when you are in those valleys and though they don’t see it the Hope has been revealed to you. Faith is the only way to live in this unstable, unpredictable, and unsavable world. The bible says that straight is the path that leads to salvation and narrow is the gate at the end of that path. The Bible also says that few will enter in at the straight gate. Few shall enter in! Few! When you consider that there are like six billion people in the world right now then I guess five hundred thousand is not that many, right? Consider this…. if let’s say only those five hundred thousand are gonna make it then that means that almost six billion people will be cast into outer darkness! Alright, now that we have that number in our heads… six billion people….. think about this if you will….. that’s one lifetime, one span of maybe two or three generations that are alive right now! That’s not alot of time… not when you consider the fact that Moses walked the earth four thousand or more years ago. How many billions of people are going to go to hell if six billion are going from one minor period in time!?!?!

 We have to stop them from destroying themsleves and those around them who really care for them! Can you think of a good way to stop them?! Ice Tea, maybe?

God has the plan. It’s called Salvation and it is given away freely. You don’t have to pay five hundred dollars for an all day seminar. You don’t have to join a club. There is no need to run a credit check! God has the plan for your life already laid out in front of you and He is just waiting to give it to you for free!!! Ya want it?
